This will be given by Yucca Rec Staff giving the community information about upcoming events aimed at the local community. There will be time allotted at the end of the presentation for questions.

Community members will meet with the area Senior Lead Officer and discuss issues within the community covering crime, nightclub patrons and general safety issues.

Minutes

Meeting started at 6:40 p.m. there were 20 people in attendance.  The first item covered were issues in area 3. The audience heard Senior Lead Officer Maggie Dillard give an over view of her area and her job duties within that area. She also discussed issues on car break ins in the area and over all general safety. Several questions were asked about general safety as well as issues that community members were having with nightclubs and whether or not they were allowed to have outdoor music. Mr. Laresca, who is one of the club owners had spoke on the issue and what laws all club owners should be obeying. One person brought up that they had troubles with a certain nightclub and what they did was set up a meeting with the owners of the club and his issues were resolved. The general safety of the area as well as the nightclub issues were talked about for another 25 minutes and ending with Officer Dillard giving out her cell phone number as well as the number of vice for nightclub issues.

Kathleen Penny, the director of Yucca Recreation Park made a brief presentation on the upcoming Halloween Bash the center was having.

Mr. Aguilar from the CIM group made a presentation on Yoga Works which is a yoga facility slated to open at 1850 N. Las Palmas at the first floor of an apartment building. Residents brought up concern about possible parking issues and the date that Yoga Works would open and what impact it would have on the community. Mr. Aguilar addressed all of those issues including how the Yoga studio would benefit the community.

EMS Chair Valorie Keegan spoke about neighborhood watch and wanting to get community members in this area involved. She also spoke on car break ins and personal safety for club goers going to their cars. She also brought up the city code that makes it illegal to have in possession, use or sell silly string along the Hollywood boulevard area from Noon on Halloween until 6:00 a.m. the next morning.

The meeting ended with a few more questions for Officer Dillard and then it was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
