Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council
Area #6 Committee Meeting

Steven Kifer, Chair presiding.

The meeting began at 6:30 in the courtyard of St. Thomas, The Apostle Episcopal Church.

Erik Sanjurjo, Rory Fitzpatrick, and Matt Levy represented Tom LaBonge’s office.
4 stakeholders were present at the meeting, which was not enough to hold a quorum.

First item discussed was the Runyon Canyon parking lot. Rory was able to provide the public with a background about Runyon Canyon Park. It was noted during the discussion that this was the first time Tom LaBonge decided against the advisory of the HHWNC for the parking lot. Council member LaBonge released a letter to the public in the meeting, which explained his decision. It’s noted in the letter that in 1984 the first Runyon Canyon Master Plan approved by the Board after a series of meetings with local residents and park users planned for a parking lot and an area for buses.

Rory mentioned that Council member LaBonge welcomes public input about the planning and design of the parking lot to make it environmentally friendly to the park. Afterward, there was discussion.

Second item discussed was the preferred parking on some of the lower streets near Runyon Canyon. Rory provided a background and update about the preferred parking. The City is in the process of scheduling a public hearing for sometime in September. Afterward, the floor was open up for discussion and answer about preferred parking.

No other items were presented during the meeting.

Meeting adjourned. The next planned meeting will be scheduled sometime tentatively during the 2nd week of October.
