HHWNC Area 3 Committee, Business Development Committee
& Housing Services Committee Joint Meeting
Tuesday, July 15, 2008
Approved Meeting Minutes

1) Introductions. Reading and approval of last meeting minutes.

2) Thought of the month presented by Katherine Woolsey.

3) Presentation from King Woods for the proposed expansion of Powerhouse Bar at 1716 North Highland Avenue with owner Ken Jones. Proposed expansion is into vacant comic store as explained by Mr. Woods. Desired hours of operation are from 11 AM to 2 AM 7 nights per week. No live entertainment was asked for. Concerns brought up by Chair Woolsey and Business Chair Thor Lee the parking situation in Hollywood & Highland area including the normal lot for this establishment currently under-going construction as a residential building and none being available the H & H Center due to the profusion of Entitlements already present there-in. No parking plan with a signed lease was presented and according to Housing Chair Paul Ramsey this was in-adequate for consideration. Discussion then arose as to the stated purpose of adding restaurant functions. The business plan for this consists of “American Food” and will be discussed in greater detail in the next meeting. Motion to table pending resolution of these items made, seconded, and passed.

4) Public comment: Lola Nelson spoke about the situation with the traffic bollards being constantly broken and useless and discussed having them removed completely. Chair Woolsey mentioned there was a previous initiative from council office to remove them and that Area 3 and the HHWNC Board voted to recommend keeping and repairing them.

Stakeholder Katherine Woolsey discussed beginning an HHWNC newsletter for outreach purposes. HHWNC Vice-President OrrinFeldman said that he would do that kind of a project with her and the other stakeholders. Katherine cited the Hollywood Heritage Newsletter in addition to a small remembrance for the late Robert Nudelman that had been earlier in the evening.

5) Motion to adjourn was made, seconded, and passed.
