DESCRIPTION:Next Wednesday evening\, July 27th\,  hearing for the preservation of the Sunset Square neighborhood. \nThe current building moratorium expires very soon!!  \nFrom 5:30-7:30pm\, at the Gardner Street Elem School Auditorium (Gardner & Hawthorn)\, the LA Dept. of Cultural Affairs will hold a workshop (5:30) and hearing (6:30) as a final step toward formally designating Sunset Square as an Historical Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ). \nIn recent years Sunset Square has lost over 15 historic homes to developers who have replaced them with oversized McMansions\, which are out of scale and out of character with the neighborhood and encroach on the light\, privacy\, and value of the homes around them. \nYou can access information about the process\, and read the Plan itself at http://preservation.lacity.org/hpoz/la/sunset-square.
