 Minutes

Meeting called to order at 6:35 p.m.

The Rec assistant did not come to do her presentation.

The second issue discussed was the bollards along Yucca and the concept drawing that was presented by D.O.T. at the main board meeting.  One issue that was discussed was possibly adding trees to the photo shown to make it more aesthetically pleasing.  The concern was people using the middle of the median as a potty spot for dogs and not having owners clean up after them. Also a concern brought up was the need to have something in place that would not be easily broken or destroyed and a waste of tax payer money.  Also noted was the need for the fire department to be able to easily access streets where these new medians/bollards will be.

One idea brought up about the bollards would be to have a gate in the middle of the road and the fire department could have a key or remote to make the bollards low enough for them to go over.  An issue with that was the problem of which engine would respond and if they came from another area they would not have access for that type of device.

What was asked at the meeting is that stakeholders give feedback to the area chair so that information can be given to D.O.T.

The next thing that was discussed was our second meeting and the area 3 involvement which would be the open house event at Yucca Recreation Center on April 7th. Also discussed was what was given out last year by Project Saving Grace and how this year, in order not to show any conflict of interest , the non-profit will be represented at the Open House by community member and fund-raiser Jeff P.

The mutt mitts were brought up and the cost and it was explained that the original bags were gone 2 ½ months after the mutt mitt was installed and once the bag were gone, the area 3 chair has been for most part paying to replace the bags since then.

The discussion moved on to the roles and responsibilities of neighborhood council positions and one of the things emphasized was that all board members go through ethics training and that as board members no one is allowed to take money for services, give false statements as to what he or she as a board member can do for a business, write letters on behalf of the board, get free things from business owners or use the business card as a form of intimidation in order to get something from a person or business.

Goals were set for the next six months and what was brought up was having a large scale event specifically aimed at the stakeholders in area 3 such as a community barbeque or a celebrity basketball event.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
