Minutes for the December 5, 2006 Meeting

Location: Yamashiro Restaurant, Conference Room.

1. A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. Rena Dheming was thanked in absentia for having brought several agenda items to the Neighborhood Council’s attention.

2. Representatives of CD 4, the Dept. of Recreation and Parks, Hollywood & Highland and the bus company outlined measures to mitigate the impact of the Griffith Observatory shuttle busses. Some steps, such as the use of environmentally friendly fuel, have already been taken; to monitor the effect of others, the Representatives will stay in contact with the affected stakeholders. H&H will reassess the value of the shuttle operation in a few months’ time.

3. Representatives from H&H proposed several measures to curb nighttime noise at the loading dock. These include keeping waiting trucks off-site, disallowing the idling of engines and the introduction of walkie-talkies with earphones. H&H will stay in communication with the affected stakeholders.

4. Cut-through traffic on the 1700 block of Orange Drive was discussed with representatives of CD4 and Mayor Villaraigosa. Stakeholders were encouraged to initiate the application process for speed bumps.

5. Representatives of Madame Tussaud’s presented their plan to build a wax museum adjacent to Grauman’s Chinese Theater. A motion that “Area 4 supports the proposed Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum at 6931-6935 Hollywood Boulevard” was approved 15:0 (2 abstentions).

6. In the interest of time, the approval of minutes was tabled.

7. As there was no public comment and no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.

Minutes prepared by Conrad Schoeffter.
