The July 21 joint meeting of EMS Safety and Environmental Committees was opened at 6:05 am  with 21 stakeholders present. The topics of discussion included tour bus issues in the community, noise issues and an update of the preservation of the Fifth Church of Christian Science/Mosaic church property.

Dietrich Nelson, EMS Chair introduced a panel consisting of Jacqueline Lawson, the L.A. City Attorney representing Hollywood, LAPD Senior Lead Officer Irv Isabella and CD13 Field Representative Dan Halden. The City representatives discussed the issues of tour buses and how each department was dealing with the issue. Stakeholders and the panel interacted and discussed problems and potential solutions. Dietrich informed the community that an ad hoc committee has been formed by the Hollywood Hills Neighborhood Council and will work with the various City departments to develop concrete solutions to each issue.

Environmental Chair Carl Ripaldi discussed the City’s regulations on various noises and brochures were given to everyone present containing information on noise terminology, standards, permitted construction schedules and helicopters.  He discussed the recent meeting of the L.A. Cultural Resource Commission where the commission voted unanimously to support the nomination and consideration of the Church as a Cultural Monument, the first of two steps in the process.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm.
